The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Hanoi authorities have signed a cooperation to jointly organize activities to celebrate the 1000th Thang Long – Hanoi anniversary, including calling foreign cities that are over 1000 years old to join the Club of 1000-year-old Cities.

The plan to set up a Club of 1000-year-old Cities has been kicked off by designing a website named Cities1000.org in English and Vietnamese to call for the participation of 1000-year-old cities in the world into this club.

This project is jointly implemented by the Hanoi Cultural Foundation, the Centre for Talent Development Assistance and Ashui.com with the cooperation of embassies of countries that have 1000-year-old cities.

The website will be launched in early October 2009.

According to the website’s operators, there are more than 120 cities of over 1000 years old in the world, including 30 capitals.
