The Buddha relics and the jade Buddha statue are gifts from the Van Phat Quang Dai Tong Lam pagoda in the southern province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau to the Suoi Tien cultural park.

Suoi Tien’s representative said that the 21 pieces of “xa loi” belonged to an eminent monk from Myanmar and 9 pieces belonged to the late Chairman of the World Buddhist Association.

The Van Phat Quang Dai Tong Lam’s senior monk Quang Hien also presented Suoi Tien a small jade Buddha statue. This statue was made from the same rare jade block which was used to create the giant jade Buddha statue that came to Vietnam this April.

The Buddhist treasures will be welcomed to Suoi Tien park in a solemn ceremony, with the participation of 1000 Buddhist monks from the Vietnam Buddhist Shangha and the HCM City Buddhist Shangha aswell as thousands of Buddhist followers and spectators.

Suoi Tien will open its door for visits from 7-10am, August 21 for the people who want to admire the Buddhist treasures.

The Vu Lan holiday (15th of the 7th lunar month), the day people express their gratefulness and appreciation to their mothers, is annually held in Suoi Tien park. This year the park will organize a free vegetarian party for over 20,000 people in two days, August 30-September 1.
