A half-Japanese half-Vietnamese orchestra will play Ho Chi Minh City’s Legend Hotel as part of Vietnam’s National Day celebrations.

The folk melodies of “Four Seasons of Japan,” by world-renowned contemporary Japanese composer Masaki Hayakawa, will be played in a Baroque style by a string orchestra of 16 Japanese and 18 Vietnamese musicians. The orchestra will be conducted by Japanese conductor Tokuhisa Masanori and Australian Dr. Darren Anthony Postema.

Taking place one day before National Day, September 1, the one-hour concert will open at 7 p.m.

The Sakura Apricot Concert comes as part of the Mekong-Japan Exchange Year 2009, in which countries in the Mekong regions are taking part in a series of cultural exchange programs with Japan.

The Sakura Apricot Concert is free of charge. Please call Legend Hotel’s Guest Relations Officers at (08) 3 823 3333 Ext. 132 for more information.
