American director of photography Matthew J. Siegel will lead a filmmaking course in HCMC August 19-21

Award-winning American director of photography Matthew J. Siegel on Wednesday began a course on shooting films with digital cameras in Ho Chi Minh City.

Several renowned Vietnamese directors and cameramen are also set to participate.

During the three-day course titled “Varicam Master Class,” Siegel will demonstrate how to make feature films using Panasonic’s new P2HD VARICAM camera and will share his years of experience working on feature films, commercials, documentaries, television programs and music videos.

Siegel is famous as the cinematographer and camera operator behind many Hollywood blockbusters including “The Matrix Reloaded,” “Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World” and “Mr. and Mrs. Smith.”

He also teaches courses and workshops throughout the US on digital and high definition imaging techniques.

Noted filmmakers including Dinh Anh Dung, Vu Ngoc Dang, and Trinh Hoan will attend Siegel’s course, co-organized by Panasonic and BHD Company, at Thang Long Cinema, 19 Cao Thang Street, District 3.
