The final round of the first Mrs. Vietnam pageant began today, September 14, in Vung Tau.

The organizing board announced that seven contestants had withdrawn from the finals because of poor health or conflicts with work.

These vacancies will be filled by five others who will enter the final round without having to compete in the qualifying round. All five are winners or members of the top ten at previous beauty contests.

The five new competitors are considered to be outstanding candidates for Mrs. Vietnam. They include Dam Thi Ly, Miss Sports of Miss Vietnam 2006 and also Miss Central Highlands 2006; Tran Bao Ngoc, a former supermodel and the Miss Vietnam via Photo 2000; and Kathe, Miss Friendly of Miss Vietnam 2006.

The final round of Mrs. Vietnam 2009 will run from September 14 to 26, with various activities like sports (golf, badminton, tennis, swimming, yoga, canoeing) to charity work at centers for elderly and disadvantaged children in Vung Tau and also interviews plus social activities.

During the final night of competition on September 26, contestants will be judged on ao dai, swimwear, evening gown and interview at the Sports House of Ba Ria – Vung Tau province. The pageant will close with the crowning ceremony and a gala.
