The 34-episode series, directed by Vu Truong Khoa focuses on the competition between two hip-hop groups. The first group, Brave Heart, is led by Duong, who was born into a poor, coastal family and works as a dance teacher to finance his tuition fees. The opposing group, Dark Night, is headed by Nam, a rich but selfish individual.

Both of them are in love with Linh, an integral member of Brave Heart, whose heart belongs to Duong. Driven by jealousy, Nam attempts to bribe, threaten and even kidnap members of Brave Heart in order to defeat Duong.

Along with beautiful hip-hop costumes, viewers tune-in to watch stunning dances performed by members from professional break-dance group: Tung Min, Chi Hoa, Minh Tri, among others, all of whom additionally appear as actors and actresses.

“Although the other actors and I have read the script thoroughly, we performed creative dances that are different from those described in the script because free-style is the major characteristic that attracts and introduced youth to hip-hop,” says Thanh, a member of Big Toe, a famous Vietnamese break-dance group, who was invited to design the show’s hip-hop dances and provides a supporting role in the show.

The show is not only entertaining, but it also provides the youth with lessons about love and aspiration. There are both moral and immoral characters in the series, but in the end all of them search for a common good and a better life.

Buoc Nhay Xitin is produced in co-ordination with the Viet Nam Film Centre and Galaxy Studio. It airs on VTV3’s Rubic 8 Programme at 2:30pm every Saturday and Sunday.
