Vietnamese youth will have many opportunities to win prizes in talent competitions in September and October 2009.

The winner of the Pepsi Vietnam Talent 2009 will have a trip to the US to participate in the Global Hit music project with singer Akon to raise fund for African children.

The first is an annual familiar contest titled “Television music star” of the HCM City Television, or HTV. The preliminary round was kicked of in late August in five provinces and cities – Hanoi, Da Nang, Buon Ma Thuot, Can Tho and HCM City. The contest is for people from 16-25. The final round will take place in late October.

PepsiCo International will also for the first time launch a young musical talent contest called Pepsi Vietnam Talent 2009 for people from 15-25 years old. The first round will be held from September 1-15. Contestants can send their tracks to http://pepsiworld.com.vn.

The winner will receive the Vietnam Music Talent 2009 title and a trip to the US to participate in the Global Hit music project with singer Akon.

However, Vietnam Idol will not be held.

Besides seeking performance and singing talents, organisers are also keen on fashion. The third “Aquafina Pure Fashion” competition for young designers is on the way. The deadline for sending designs to the organising board is September 21.
