LookAtVietnam – French singer Francis Cabrel’s adopted daughter is from Vietnam. On October 7-8, he will perform at the Hanoi Opera House to support Vietnamese orphans.

VietNamNet: Could you tell Vietnamese audiences about your performing schedule in Hanoi next October? Which songs will you play?

Francis Cabrel: I will do the same show as the one I do in France. Old songs like “Je l’aime à mourir”, “Petite Marie”, and new ones from the last CD.

VietNamNet: I’ve heard that the aim of your tour in Vietnam is helping the disadvantaged children. Could you reveal the details?

Francis Cabrel: We were lucky enough, my wife and I, to adopt a wonderful little girl from the area of Bac-Kan. So the two shows will raise money centres in that area for disadvantaged children.

VietNamNet: What are you most looking forward to?

Francis Cabrel: I hope I will meet many Vietnam musicians. I was in Hue city in 2000 and I heard typical local bands. I loved that. But I’ll be doing some travelling too.

VietNamNet: You are known to be inspired heavily by Bob Dylan, a famous music icon for Vietnamese audiences – what about other influences?

Francis Cabrel: Bob Dylan is my main influence but I also love Georges Brassens, Jacques Brel and the great French singers.
