Orchestra Libera Classica, an orchestra from Japan specializing in playing the works of classical composers on period instruments, will perform in Vietnam for the first time on Sunday night.

The “Vietnam Airlines Classic 2009” concert at the Hanoi Opera House will feature symphonies written by Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven, local newswire VietNamNet reported.

Headed and directed by renowned cellist Hidemi Suzuki, Orchestra Libera Classica made its debut in 2002. Thirty-plus soloists from Japan and abroad gather several times a year for concerts and live recordings.

Suzuki has performed in Vietnam twice earlier and will conduct the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra next month, the newswire said.
