LookAtVietnam – The Minh Long ceramic company has presented a giant cup to the Vietnam Fatherland Front as a gift to celebrate the 1000th anniversary of Hanoi.

This cup is 80cm in height, around 20kg in weight and is decorated with the landscapes of Hanoi past and present, plus gold-inlaid patterns which took a whole month to complete.

Minh Long’s general director Ly Ngoc Minh said the idea to produce this giant cup rose five years ago but production techniques have only just made it possible.

Minh said the company’s top crafts people spent four months drawing and engraving pictures of Hanoi including Hoan Kiem lake, the Thang Royal citadel, the Hanoi flag pole, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the one-pillar pagoda, The Huc bridge, and the Temple of Literature.

The cup was then fired at 1250oC.
