Viet Nam has sent representatives to various beauty contests across the world. The people at home are always watching the progress of the contestants.

Fairest of all: Model Huong Giang (left) is competing at the Miss World event.

The road leading to the crown of Miss International 2009 has opened in front of Tran Thi Quynh, Viet Nam’s representative, when she reached the top 24 most beautiful contestants voted for by the online community at Globalbeauties.com.

Miss International 2009’s contestants took part in a discussion on Tuesday about the earthquake in Sichuan (China) last year. On Wednesday, they attended a session of sports events where the Vietnamese contestant was eager to show her advantages in this field against her international friends. The contestants moved to Chengdu yesterday, November 19, Sichuan, to continue the contest.

After visits to London (England) and the United Arab Emirates, Huong Giang, Viet Nam’s representative in Miss World 2009, attended the final in South Africa along with 110 other contestants.

Giang received high accolades from most of the forums about beauty pageants around the world. She reached the top 20 most beautiful candidates in the evaluation of Globalbeaties.com and Worldofmisses.com voted her into the top 10 most beautiful contestants in Miss World 2009.

Giang is one of many candidates ranked in a high position at a fashion show. If Giang wins in the Top Model held next Saturday, she will go straight to the final round.

Together with Singapore, Hong Kong (China), Ukraine and Nigeria, Vietnamese representative Lan Huong will attend Miss Photogenic, the auxiliary contest of Miss Model of The World 2009. The prize and the winner will be announced at the final, next Saturday in Shenzhen (China).

Mrs World 2009 contest will wrap up this Sunday after 77 contestants from 76 countries and territories had nearly three weeks to visit and participate in cultural, sporting and social activities in the coastal city of Vung Tau.

Twelve contestants randomly selected by the organising board have visited Ha Noi and the northern province of Quang Ninh to take photos, visit and interact with the people.

Two representatives of Viet Nam, Hoang Thi Yen and Thu Ha have mixed with the other contestants who have expressed the friendliness and helpfulness of the hosts, Viet Nam.

Ha will present a dance to the backing of quan ho (love duet) entitled Nguoi O Dung Ve (Please Stay, Don’t Leave), while Yen will sing Trong Com, another Vietnamese folk song, in the talent competition.

Although Viet Nam doesn’t have any representatives taking part in Miss Earth 2009, supermodel Thuy Hanh, director of EVE Group, will join the contest as a member of the panel in the final round which will be held on Sunday in the Philippines.

Hanh said she gained some experience as a judge in the Miss Intercontinental pageant, but she was still nervous because Miss Earth is among the largest beauty contests in the world.

Hanh will be there in a night gown designed by Hoang Hai. Tomorrow, the Vietnamese judge will be interviewed and shot in a video clip to broadcast on the final night.

This is the second time Viet Nam has been represented on the board of the Miss Earth Contest.

Meanwhile, model Truong Thi May, who will miss the pageant due to an accident, was invited to be an honoured guest at the final night.
