16th Vietnam Film Festival reels in HCM City audiences

Before the opening of the 16th Vietnam Film Festival, a music show introducing theme songs titled “Impression of Theme Songs and Films” will take place at the Hoa Binh Theatre, HCM City.

For the first time, famous Vietnamese film theme songs will be introduced together, including “Bai Ca Tren Nui” (Song in the Mountain) in “A Phu and His Wife”, “Bai Ca Khong Quen” (Unforgettable Song) and “Ngoc Trong Da” (Gem in Stone) in films of the same name, “Chi Toi” (My Sister) in “Hanoians”, “Co Tam Ngay Nay (Miss Tam Today) in (Moc Family’s Story), “Gia Tu Di Vang” (Bid Farewell to the Past) in a movie with the same name, “Dong Song Khong Tro Lai” (The River of No Return) in “Stream of Life”, “Giac Mo Tuyet Trang” (Dream of White Snow) in “Tropical Snow”.

Many of these songs have become top hits in the music market.

The show will feature pop stars Mỹ Linh, Đàm Vĩnh Hưng, Quang Dũng, Cẩm Vân, Phương Thanh and Mỹ Lệ and actors and models Ngô Thanh Vân, Anh Thư, Trương Ngọc Ánh, Kim Thư and Phước Sang, plus film directors Nguyễn Quang Dũng, Vũ Ngọc Đãng, Đinh Đức Liêm and Lê Hoàng. Also composers Nguyen Duc Trung and Vo Thien Thanh will appear.

The show will be aired live on HTV2.

Tickets are available at Hoa Binh Theatre as well as 29 Ngo Thoi Nhiem, District 3.

From December 7-11, big-screen films at the 16th Vietnam Film Festival will be shown free of charge at 9.30am, 3pm and 8pm at the Thang Long Cinema, HCM City.

From December 8-11, video films, cartoons and documentaries in the festival will be introduced free at Fafilm, Dai Dong and Dong Da Cinemas, HCM City.

Also on December 8, the Galaxy Nguyen Du Cinema, HCM City, will present movies from the US, South Korea, China and Russia, which were sent to Vietnam as gifts for the festival.

Side-line activities at the 16th Vietnam Film Festival:

- The opening ceremony will start at 8.30pm of December 8 at the White Palace Centre, aired live on HTV9.

- December 8: “Movies and Audiences” fair and exhibition at the Hoa Binh Theatre, District 10

- December 9: International talks “Short Films in the Context of International Integration”

- December 10: Talks “Building and Raising Funds for Film Projects” at the Kim Do Hotel

- December 11: Free film showings for young people at the Youth Cultural House. Exchanges between artists and audiences at the Youth Cultural House and the Cultural Centre of District 10.

- December 12: Seminar “Introducing HD Movie Technology and Mobile Filming Activities” at Dong Da Cinema.
