Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has set up the organizing board for large scale celebratory events in 2009-2010, chaired by Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan.

Hanoi will celebrate its 1000th anniversary next year.

The board’s vice head is Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh and Nguyen Bac Son, vice chief of the Central Propaganda and Education Committee. Eleven members of the board are high-ranking officials from various ministries and provinces.

This board will be in charge of assisting the Politburo, the Central Party Secretariat to instruct the organization of events to celebrate anniversaries in 2009-2010.

Vietnam has many great anniversaries in 2009-2010, including: The 55th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory (07/5/1954 - 07/5/2009); the 65th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (22/12/1944 - 22/12/2009), 80th anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (03/02/1930 - 03/02/2010); the Hung Kings’ Death Anniversary 2010; the 35th country’s union day (30/4/1975 - 30/4/2010); the 120th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh; the 65th anniversary of the August Revolution (19/8/1945 - 19/8/2010) and the National Day (02/9/1945 - 02/9/2010); 1000th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi (1010-2010), etc.
