World renowned Italian firms like Bvlgari, Giorgio Armani and Versace will come to Vietnam early next month to promote their products in the country.

Marco Saladini, Italian trade commissioner in Vietnam, said Thursday (Dec 24) these firms would seek opportunities to expand their presence in the Vietnamese market that has a growing segment of young people with high incomes were growing in its population. About 60 percent of Vietnam’s population is under the age of 35.

Saladini said the firms would focus on cosmetic products, conducting studies and establishing networks to boost sales in Vietnam. Hanoi will become a gateway for the products to enter the country, Saladini said.

Italian brands were among Vietnam’s top cosmetic imports in recent years, according to the commissioner.

He estimated Italian cosmetic products held 3.5 percent of Vietnam’s market share with imports of about US$80 million a year.
