French photographer captures the unexpected in Hue

Two children sit in a toy boat behind a thatched hut, smiling without a care in the world.

The ‘toy boat’ is actually the casing of a huge bomb dropped by American Air forces during the American War.

This is one of 36 black and white photographs depicting the life of ethnic guorp in the central province of Thua Thien – Hue that are currently on display in Hue city.

The Ba Dan Toc Tinh Thua Thien-Hue: Co Tu, Ta Oi, Pa Co (three minorities of Thua Thien-Hue Province: Co Tu, Ta Oi and Pa Co) exhibition features photos taken by a French photographer Sebastien Laval during his ten day field trip to the two mountainous districts of Nam Dong and A Luoi in the province in March last year.

The exhibition will run until January 4, next year at the French Culture Centre on Le Hong Phong Street in Hue city.

Mekong province celebrates Ha Noi’s 1000th anniversary

The Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta province of Hau Giang has become the first locality in the country to celebrate the 1000th anniversary of the founding of Ha Noi with a solemn concert held in its provincial capital of Vi Thanh.

The celebration occurred during the province’s first Viet Nam Rice Festival.

A concert brought together performers from the northern and southern parts of the country.

The show, which was a means for locals to convey their affection to the capital, kicks off a string of events in different localities, culminating in a great celebration in Ha Noi in October next year.
