HCM City’s inspectors on December 8 discovered nearly 4,000 illegal copies of translated books at the Hoa Mai printing company in Binh Thanh District.

According to inspectors, these are copies of two books jointly published by the Quynh Mai Bookstore and the Dong Nai Publishing House.

On December 7, inspectors also seized copies of these books at the Quynh Mai Bookstore for infringing the copyright of the McGraw Hill publishing house.

Hoa Mai Company’s representative Luong Vinh Kim said these books are printed by his company and distributed at the Quynh Mai Bookstore. Kim said these books have a publishing license granted by the Dong Nai Publishing House.

However, the McGraw Hill in July announced that cooperation between Quynh Mai Bookstore and the Dong Nai Publishing House to print McGraw Hill’s books is copyright violation.

Inspectors also seized some foreign books at the Hoa Mai company, which are suspected of violated copyright.
