Vietnam Idol 2007 Phuong Vy and Somali-Canadian hip-hop artist K’naan sang one of the 2010 World Cup anthems together in Ho Chi Minh City on January 16.

K’naan and Phuong Vy sang the rapper’s “Waving Flag: the Celebration Mix” from his latest album “Troubadour” (2009) in an acoustic remix at Military Zone 7 Stadium. Meanwhile, pop sensation Dinh Manh Ninh has just returned from Los Angeles after recording the contest’s other anthem alongside R&B stars Akon and Keri Hilson.

The 2010 World Cup’s other official anthem is “Oh Africa”, performed by Senegalese-American R&B act Akon, singer Keri Hilson, and some 20 other stars from around the world, including Vietnam’s Dinh Manh Ninh.

The winner of Pepsi Talent Show 2009 said he had learned a lot from singing with the group in America.

The anthem will debut worldwide on January 31, the same day as the Grammy Awards. However, local music fans will be able to enjoy a special sneak preview of the song one night earlier at a World Cup promotional concert featuring Ninh and other local Vietnamese stars in HCMC.
