Hanoi will choose 1,000 objects to bury with a message for future generations so that people in 1,000 years will know more about their ancestors.

The Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism introduced the container that would keep the 1000 items at a press conference in Hanoi last week.

These objects will be ordinary items from day to day life. They will be buried in the campus of the Hanoi Museum and opened after 1000 years.

The objects will comprise 63 items representing 63 provinces and cities in Vietnam and 937 items suggested by the people. They will be placed in a container of 1,000 liters, symbolizing 1,000 years of Thang Long – Hanoi.

Hanoi will combine with 62 provinces and cities in Vietnam to select 63 of the objects and launch a campaign to call for opinions of the people regarding the remaining objects. A selection council will be set up to research suggestions and make decision on the items.
