An exhibition of over 100 antiques from Vietnam was opened Monday by the Asia Society Museum at its headquarters in New York.

The antiques, coming from ten Vietnamese leading museums, were showcased in accordance with four themes: Dong Son – Sa Huynh Culture (1st century BC – 2nd century AD), Mekong Delta civilization or Funan civilization (1st-5th centuries AD), Champa Culture (5th-15th centuries), and foreign trade development in the central ancient town of Hoi An between the 16th-18th centuries.

These cultures and periods are considered significant in Vietnam’s history of cultural development.

The “Arts of Ancient Viet Nam: From River Plain to Coastal Sea” is the second time that the antiques are being displayed.

It was previously shown at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Texas last September. The New York exhibition will remain open until May 2.

The non-profit Asia Society works to educate the world about Asia through several centers established across the US and cities like Hong Kong, Manila and Shanghai.
