“Millions of thanks” took place at MegaStar cinema complexes on January 28. On this occasion, Cameron expressed his thanks to Vietnamese audiences through a short video clip.

By January 27, the revenue of “Avatar” reached $1.878 billion worldwide, $34.8 million more than Titanic. “Avatar” has become the most successful film of all time just five weeks after its distribution. The movie’s revenue is expected to continue growing.

“Avatar” arrived in Vietnamese cinemas and movie theaters across the world on December 18. The first 3-D movie in Vietnam, “Avatar” tickets are still sold out.

Brian Hall, MegaStar’s Chairperson, revealed that, in the last two years, Vietnamese audiences have had the chance to enjoy blockbusters very early because Hollywood film distributors have recognized Vietnam as a potential market.

After “Avatar”, the Vietnamese film market will change greatly. Recently, DreamWorks invited representatives of MegaStar and Vietnamese media to participate in DreamWorks Animation Glendale in Los Angeles on January 14.

When asked when Vietnam can expect film openings with the presence of foreign film crews and actors, he replied that in Asia, only Japan and China are able to hold such ceremonies.

“In 10-20 years, I think Asia will become the second largest market of Hollywood filmmakers,” Hall mused. “By that time, the audiences in this region, including Vietnam, will have opportunities to see their idols in person.”
