Huu Loan, the author of famous poem “Mau Tim Hoa Sim”, passed away at his home in Thanh Hoa province on March 18, at the age of 95.

Poet Huu Loan was born in 1916 in Van Hoan hamlet, Nga Linh commune, Nga Son district, Thanh Hoa province, receiving his high-school diploma in 1943.

Huu Loan worked as a teacher before joining the Viet Minh. He was the vice chair of the uprising committee in Nga Son district during the August Revolution. Before 1945, he was a freelance writer for the Journal of Literature.

After 1945, he was a member of Thanh Hoa province administration, in charge of culture, education, trade and administration.

During the French war, he joined the People’s Army and after 1954, he worked at the Literature and Art newspaper. After retirement, he returned to his hometown.

Huu Loan is known for a poem titled “Deo Ca” and especially “Mau Tim Hoa Sim”. The latter work was written in 1949 after his first wife died.

The Tan Binh Electronics Company bought the copyright for this poem for 100 million dong in 2004.
