By joining a public walk, held on March 20 and buying a photo-book called “Power of the smile,” you can restore smiles to the faces of many unfortunate children.

With VND250,000 for the book and a fee of VND100,000 to join the walk, organizers are hoping to raise around VND1 billion to donate to Operation Smile Vietnam which will cover the surgical cost for 250 children with facial deformities including cleft lips and palates.

“Power of the smile” was released on February 22.

The book is part of the project called “Walk for life,” which will be led by local celebrities like Miss Grandslam Asia Huong Giang, Miss Vietnam Earth Diem Huong, top singer Dam Vinh Hung and overseas actress Kathy Uyen.

Stories in the book are told through photographs of children who suffered from cleft lips and palates, celebrities who have overcome obstacles to find their smile back and comments from both foreign and local ambassadors involved in the project.

Attached to the book is a gift DVD with a music video in which the ambassadors and local celebrities sing Nu cuoi (Smile).

Participants will also receive a T-shirt and hat for the walk that starts at 6:30 a.m in front of the HCMC Opera House.

Organizers are hoping to attract thousands of participants.
