Welcoming the London Olympics and Paralympics of 2012, two contemporary movies submitted by the British Council for the EU Film Festival in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City will celebrate athletic heroism.

Celebrating both dedication and speed, The Flying Scotsman (feature) and Sprinters (short) will be shown on 26 and 27 May in HCMC and on 28 and 29 May in Hanoi.

The Flying Scotsman is based on a remarkable true story about the turbulent life of cyclist Graeme Obree, who broke the World One Hour record on a bike of his own revolutionary design, constructed out of scrap metal and old washing machine parts.

Sprinters is a portrayal of the frequently brutal world of top-level athletics, revealing the mental and physical barriers confronted by the runners as they pursue their dreams, and a world in which agony, ecstasy, winning and losing are separated by a hundredth of a second.

Free tickets for the film shows will be available from 12 May at British Council, 25 Le Duan Street, District 1, HCMC and from 17 May 2011 at the British Council, 20 Thuy Khue Street, Hanoi.
