Readers can admire printers which were manufactured many decades ago and buy rare and authentic books at 50 percent cheaper than the cover prices.

The 4th Vietnam International Book Fair opened on September 17 at the Hanoi Giang Vo Exhibition Center, with a lot of innovative features and benefits for readers.

Entering the main lobby of the Vietnam International Book Fair this year, readers will see two big Typo printers from the war of resistance period, with letters neatly arranged behind, one paper cutting machine that was used by the National Library from 1917 and an old typewriter.

The letters are arranged to be ready for printing.

Besides printers, the fair also showcases four large bronze-made poetry books (45 x 65 cm). This is a product of sculptor Pham Van Hang and his students. Hang made this book in five years. The book was recognized as a national record in 2007.
Besides a number of activities on the sidelines, the main activities of the fair are the exchange between publishers, writers and readers.

The fair attracts 82 book distribution companies and publishing houses in the country. This is a great opportunity for readers to visit and explore various genres of books published in Vietnam.

Besides familiar book distributors and publishers like Tri Thuc (Knowledge), Nha Nam, Kim Dong, Tri Viet, there are some other firms that are not strong for PR but own many valuable books like Xunhasaba, Alpha, DongTay, Justice Publishing House, Women's Publishing House, and Science and Technology Publishing House.

Many books are discounted in the book fair.

The most interesting thing for readers is the preferential discount policy that is applied during the fair. Some books are discounted up to 50 percent, like "The World is an Open Book", "Irrational Republic", "Chat in the Bar La Cathedral" (Nobel Prize for Literature 2010), "Henderson, King of Rain "(Nobel Prize for Literature 1976)," Water for the Elephant "," Conversation with God ","No Country" (Kurt Vonnegut).

At the stand of Tri Thuc Publishing House, there are many young people who come to look for books, that are considered "too difficult" to read, such as "Crowd Psychology", "Socratic Dialogue", "Thinking Like System" and "From the Other Side." Unfortunately, the two books that are being waiting for by the readers "Confided Words" by Rosseau and "Identify Power" by Noam Chomsky have not been printed yet to release at the fair.
                                       Most of visitors are students.
In the morning of the opening day, the number of visitors were not too crowded, mostly students. It is expected that the number of visitors will increase in the next days. Unfortunately, the book fair was not held on the weekend so that many other people could have attended.
The exhibition will last until September 21, with a lots of workshops to introduce books and cultural activities.

Typewriters of decades ago attract attention of curious youngsters. Some said that "my mum used such a typewriter before."
