The capital city of Hanoi is set for a slew of music shows for children.

A show titled “Ong Trang Oi Xuong Day Choi” (Hey Uncle Moon, Come Down Here and Play With Us) featuring music performances and dramas will take place at the Vietnam- Soviet Friendship Workers Cultural Palace at 91 Tran Hung Dao Street for three days, from September 28. It will see performances by well-known local comedians Tu Long and Xuan Bac together with child performers from cultural centers around Hanoi. Tickets costing from VND150,000 to VND300,000 are available now.

Another show, titled “Dem Hoi Trang Ram” (Mid-Autumn Fest), will offer more choices for kids on the occasion. The show, featuring the winners of 2011 ‘Vietnam’s Got Talent’, Dang Quan and Bao Ngoc, Doremi’s young star Tri Dung, singer Thai Thuy Linh and dancing troupe Canh Dieu Hong (Pink Kite), will last from 5pm to 10pm on September 28 and 29 at Ho Tay Park, 614 Lac Long Quan Street.

A charity show with the hope of bringing the festival atmosphere to child patients will also be organized at the Central Children Hospital on September 29. Contestants from this year’s singing contest for children, Doremi, will join in to perform.

A series of activities themed around traditional cultural values will also be held around the capital city.

A festival titled “Traditional Mid-Autumn Fest 2012”, featuring traditional crafts and folk games, is being held in Hanoi’s Old Quarter. The event, consisting of puppet performances, street art, lantern exhibitions, and ca tru singing, aims to honor Hanoi’s tangible and intangible cultural values while introducing the Mid-Autumn Festal customs of the area’s residents to tourists. The festival will run until September 30.

Meanwhile the city People’s Committee, in collaboration with the Hoi An Center of Culture and Sport, will also hold an event on Hoi An’s traditional values at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology on September 29 and 30. The event will include traditional music performance, water puppet shows and cuisine booths to introduces Hoi An’s specialties, as well as the ancient’s town folk games. Children coming to the event will be told fairy tales about the Mid-Autumn festival and will be allowed to take place in a painting contest.

In HCMC, numerous music shows promise to bring a joyful festival to kids and their families.

On September 28, the HCMC Children’s House in District 3 will hold a show including music, circus and magic performances for disadvantaged kids at orphanages around the city. The children will also have the chance to take place in a lantern parade on streets around the cultural house.

On the next day, the HCMC Fine Arts Museum in District 1 will offer kids the opportunity to make their own lanterns. On the same day the museum will also display a number of giant lanterns and screen several Vietnamese cartoons.

For its part, Dam Sem Theme Park in District 11 is also joining the festival by providing many entertaining services, including music performances, an animal circus and dragon dance performances. Kids under 1.4m in height will be admitted free of charge.

A cai luong opera for children promises to be a highlight for this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival. The show will be held at the HCMC Opera House and will be joined by artists Kieu Phuong Loan, Cam Thu, To Tan Loan and Hoang Yen. Around 500 children born to veterans will also be invited to enjoy the show and receive lanterns and moon cakes.

For kids who are fans of circus performances, “Dem Hoi Trang Ram” (Mid-Autumn Fest) will be a nice present. Besides featuring an animal circus and acrobatic performances, the show at the HCMC Circus Troupe at 23/9 Park will introduce several award-winning performances, such as “Du Chong Dau” (Swinging) and “Thang Bang Tren Day Thep Chung” (Balancing on a String). “Dem Hoi Trang Ram” will be held every night from now until September 30.
