The Quang Trung Museum is around 40 kilometers from Quy Nhon Town in the central province of Binh Dinh.

It is located in the center of Tay Son District and despite its distance from major cities, it still attracts many visitors each year.

Undoubtedly, the main attractions of the museum are the images of Emperor Quang Trung-Nguyen Hue city and his brothers Nguyen Nhac and Nguyen Lu, natives of Tay Son. The three are considered national heroes for leading resistance movements against the Ching invaders, driving them out of Vietnam in 1789.

Other features of the museum include relics like a 200-year-old tamarind tree, which has existed since the Tay Son dynasty.

Quang Trung Museum is located by the side of the Tay Son Temple, built in the mid 1970s. The building was recognized as a national historical and cultural relic on April 29, 1979.

The museum spans over 16 hectares and stretches around a large park. Greenery dominates the area around the entryway and nearly every tree was planted by a celebrated national figure.

For instance, one of the two tamarind trees in the park was planted in 1983 by General Vo Nguyen Giap. Over a span of 20 years, the trees have grown into a beautiful forest area.

Every year, Quang Trung Museum adds to its collection of original exhibits highlighting the lives of the three brothers of Tay Son. The exhibits serve not only to educate the public but are also invaluable to local and foreign researchers.

Certified family records, copper bells, cannons, seals and copper coins are just a few of the ancient items donated to the museum by several people in northern Vietnam.

Ancient artifacts such as these make the museum “soulful,” said Truong Dinh Ky, the museum director.

In addition, visitors to the museum can view nine sections of exhibits and then enjoy a show featuring Tay Son battle drums.

Though Hong Kim Hanh hasn’t made her dream of becoming a famous singer come true, she’s happily becoming one of Vietnam’s rising film stars.
