The Cung Dinh Restaurant in HCMC’s Rex Hotel

Dining like a king is made easy by a Saigontourist hotel in Ho Chi Minh City.

The Cung Dinh (Royal) Restaurant at the Rex Hotel in downtown HCMC offers cuisine from the imperial court in Hue city as well as traditional Vietnamese music and performances.

The restaurant boasts traditional Vietnamese architecture with intricate woodwork and lanterns.

The employees, wearing the royal garb of the court in the ancient capital of Hue, look like the mandarins of the past.

Cung Dinh Restaurant serves Vietnamese dishes from Hue as well as specialties from all three of the country’s major regions.

At the restaurant, customers can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner, with a-la-carte dishes and set menus.

Cung Dinh’s “lunch-and-cooking show” program, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. everyday, has a chef giving a presentation while cooking three dishes and a desert for guests.

Main courses selected for the show include the Phuong Hoang khai vi (phoenix-shaped cold meat), chao tom (shrimp pie on sugar cane), goi cuon (fresh spring rolls), oc nhoi la gung (stuffed snail with ginger leaves), and ca cuon chien gion (deep fried fish rolls).
