Binh Thuan seeks demand stimulation solution for tourism

The central coast province of Binh Thuan plans to attract tourists by means of conferences and training courses, as a result of discussions at a conference held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

Accordingly, apart from international markets such as Russia, Japan, Australia, France, South Korea, Germany and Spain, the province’s tourism industry will focus on signing cooperation contracts for tourism development with Hanoi City and some northern provinces and cities.

An additional conference on “solutions to attract international tourists to Binh Thuan” hosted by Binh Thuan Investment and Trade-Tourism Promotion Center and Binh Thuan Tourism Association will take place on Friday.

Relevant departments and local tourism businesses, as well as representatives of major travel companies and airlines, such as Russia-based Transairo Airline and Vietnam Airline, and media agencies have been invited to the conference.

According to statistics of the association, the number of tourists, both domestic and international, visiting Binh Thuan in the last two months of this year shows a downward trend compared to the same period of previous years.

Over and above tour cancellations due to the recent protests in Thailand, the number of tourists coming to the province in the Christmas season this year is only 70% of room capacity. Moreover, room bookings next year could be lower than the same period of previous years due to the global economic slowdown.

Binh Thuan authorities okay two local projects

Local authorities in the central coastal province of Binh Thuan have given approval for Khai Hoan Company to build the Phong Dien mineral spring resort on an area of 10.5 hectares. The resort will feature a hot mineral spring pool, cool mineral spring pool, mud bath center, sauna and hotels.

The resort is expected to open in late 2012.

Moreover, the local authorities also granted a license for a local investment and construction company REGINA to reclaim an area of 442 hectares from the sea in Phu Hai Ward, Phan Thiet City to develop a project which will include luxury villas, apartments, golf course and beach game center.
