VietNamNet Bridge – More than 170 passengers arrived in HCM City on the second of many flights of Vietnam Airlines from Utapao.
Of the number, there were 85 Vietnamese, including 30 passengers of Vietnam Airlines and 55 others which could not seek assistance from other airways. The remaining are foreigners.
This morning Vietnam Airlines brought 76 passengers, mainly Thai nationals from HCM City to Utapao.
Vietnam Airlines’ General Director Pham Ngoc Minh confirmed VNA will try to bring all Vietnamese passengers back home as the situation in Thailand is getting further complicated. “More than ever, this is the moment businesses need to put aside economic interests to ensure safety to the community,” he said.
The Vietnamese national football squad will go to Phuket, Thailand to attend the AFF Cup 2008 on a flight of SilkAir, based out of Singapore.
According to Vietnam Airlines, the Bangkok-based Suvarnabhumi Airport will close until December 3 so the airway will cancel all flights from Hanoi and HCM City to Bangkok until that day.
Thai Airways yesterday asked Vietnam Airlines to help transport its passengers since it was unable to conduct flights between Bangkok and Vietnam. Vietnam Airlines agreed to bring 13 Thai Airways’ passengers from Utapao to Vietnam and 38 from HCM City to Utapao on two flights today, December 2.
Passengers can contact the Vietnam Airlines office in Bangkok for flight information and assistance through the following telephone numbers: +662 6554137/38/39/40, +668 18291616, +668 52587887; +668 1905 0621 or directly at the office 10th floor, Wave Place Building, Road 55 Wireless, Lumpinee Patumwan, Bangkok 10330.
