LookAtVietnam – Saigon is scorching hot these days and many people are seeking cooler, spacious places on the weekends to flee the heat. One of these places nearest Saigon is Giang Dien Waterfall, 50 kilometers from the center of HCMC.

In the past, the falls at Giang Dien were covered with wild reeds. Giang Dien Tourist Company developed the site into a 67-hectare-ideal destination for young people and families who enjoy the beauty of nature. The area consists of a valley, hills, forests, waterfalls and varieties of strange flowers blossoming all the year round.

The road into the waterfall is covered with trees and flowers and the sound of the falls can be heard from the entrance.

There are many mimosa flowers reflecting a bright yellow on the fall and the road to the Twin Waterfall passes over the Mimosa Suspension Bridge and proceeds along a path running through the foxtail meadow. According to local folklore, a couple who loved each other but could not get married committed suicide near the Giang Dien Waterfall, thereby creating two other waterfalls named Chang (boy) and Nang (girl) or Twin Waterfall.

The hustle and bustle of life in HCMC is soon forgotten when soaking in the cool and fresh water, or drifting on the stream in hired buoys, wooden boats or kayaks. Cottage tents and hammocks are also available for relaxing and contemplating the landscape around the falls.

During the afternoon, visitors can play tennis, patinage or soccer, or spend time in the shade of the restaurants built with cottage proof and tangled lianas.

It is also possible to stay overnight to experience the warmth of a camp fire and artistic programs along with the gentle sounds of the falls.
