The Southern Fruit Festival, held annually in Ho Chi Minh City since 2004, opens at the Suoi Tien Culture-Tourism Park in District 9 today.

The event is organized by the city’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Suoi Tien Culture-Tourism Company.

It aims to introduce to local and foreign visitors the abundance and diversity of fruits in southern Vietnam.

The event will comprise diverse activities, including an artistic fruit shaping competition, singing bird and fighting bird competitions, and the exhibition of ornamental creatures.

In particular, the Southern Fruit Market will remain open for three months and is expected to sell more than 1,000 tons of fruits at 20-40 percent lower than market prices.
