The Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV) approved on Friday the 2009 summer schedule for the 44 international airlines operating routes to and from Vietnam.

Most of the carriers arrive at and depart from Vietnam’s two largest international airports, Noi Bai in Hanoi and Tan Son Nhat in Ho Chi Minh City. There are 33 passenger airlines and 11 for cargo services.

CAAV said the two latest international carriers to operate flights to the southern Tan Son Nhat Airport in May and June are the US-based Northwest Airlines and Australian Qantas Freight with daily B757 and weekly B747- 400F services respectively.

For domestic carriers, Vietnam Airlines Corporation will operate a total of 36 international routes to 14 countries, while low-cost Jetstar Pacific will run eight domestic routes and raise the frequency of flights on the HCMC-Hanoi route, according to CAAV.
