Con Dao Island tour discounted; Nha Trang hosts kids’ gala; Hue city welcomes tourism workers; Ten-day tour covers SE Asia

Con Dao island.
HCM City-based Fiditour is offering a VND500,000 discount on three-day tours to Con Dao island, which costs VND3,145,000 (US$175). The company has also announced that veterans joining the tour to Con Dao Island, where the notorious prisons of the French and the former Sai Gon regimes were located, will be offered discounts of VND600,000 each.

Fiditour says there is much to see on the island, including the Con Dao Museum, the Phu Son Historical Site and Tiger Cages. Tourists will also be guided through the forests to better experience and understand local flora and fauna.

Nha Trang hosts kids’ gala

The Long Phu Tourist Co will organise a Flower Fruit Mountain Festival for children next Wednesday, to coincide with the Sea Festival 2009 in the central coastal city of Nha Trang.

The festival will be held on Hon Lao Island, home to nearly 1,000 monkeys. The island, a 10 minute boat ride from Nha Trang, will be decorated to look like the Flower Fruit Mountain in the famous novel Journey to the West wherein the monkey King Sun Wukong is born from a rock.

Children at the festival can disguise themselves as Xuanzang and his three protectors who traveled to India to obtain Buddhist texts.

Hue welcomes tourism workers

The central province of Thua Thien-Hue has co-ordinated with Vietnamtourism in Da Nang city to arrange a familiarisation (FAM) trip for 33 guests from local and foreign media and tourism agencies. The guests were introduced to special tourism services in the province, including the Royal Night, art performances and a river cruise on royal boats.

The Royal Night programme is one of the major tourism product in the province, evoking romantic nights in the ancient capital of Hue.

Ten-day tour covers SE Asia

HCM City-based Ben Thanh Tourist Co has launched a 10-day over land tour and by air to Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand this summer.

Starting in HCM City, the tour will include Vinh city in Nghe An province, Vientiane in Laos, Bangkok and Pattaya in Thailand and Siem Reap and Phnom Penh in Cambodia.

In Nghe An, tourists will visit late president Ho Chi Minh’s homeland, relax overnight at Cua Lo beach, and then travel by bus to Laos. A day will be spent visiting attractions in Vientiane before leaving Laos for Thailand via the first Friendship Bridge that linked the two countries, cross the Mekong River.

In Thailand, tourists will visit Bangkok and Pattaya. While in Cambodia, they will explore the attractions in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh such as Angkor Wat, Baray Lake, Kompongkdey Bridge, and Watphom Pagoda.

From Phnom Penh, tourists will return to HCM City by bus via the Moc Bai border gate in Tay Ninh province.

The tour costs $690 per guest for groups of 10 to 12 visitors. For larger groups of 36-45 passengers the rate drops to $490 per guest. The price includes transportation, cooking and accommodation.
