LookAtVietnam – The Saigon Railway Station launched on August 18 a ticket booking service by mobile text messages.

Specifically, to receive information about ticket prices passengers should send a message in the following form: Giave – space – the code of the train – the name of the outgoing station – the name of the incoming station, for instance Giave SE2 saigon hanoi for information about the prices for tickets from Saigon to Hanoi.

For the departure time of a train, the message must be: Giotau – space – the name of the station of departure – space – the name of the station of arrival, for example Giotau saigon nhatrang for the leaving time of the train from HCM City to Nha Trang.

In case passengers want to buy a ticket, they should type the following message: vesg – space – train code – date of leaving – the name of the departure station – space - the name of the arrival station – space – type of seat - space – the number of a seat, for example Vesg SE4 02.09.2009 saigon Hanoi ngoimem 2 for two tickets from HCM City to Hanoi on SE4 train on September 2nd 2009.

Also on August 18th, the Vietnam Railways Corporation announced to cut down ten percent of ticket prices for new students of universities, colleges and vocational training schools. They are allowed to buy one more cheap ticket for their relative (if present) from August 18th October 31st 2009. To buy tickets, students have to show their ID cards or student cards plus announcement of university or college admissions.
