Nearly 50 international airways and Vietnam’s top ten travel firms attended a conference to promote tourism in the ancient capital of Hue on August 23 in Hue City, Thua Thien-Hue province.

Most of the attendants came from Southeast and Northeast Asia. Finally, 14 airlines signed memorandums of understanding to open air routes to Hue City.

Speaking at the conference, Thua Thien – Hue’s Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Thien said that the government had agreed to upgrade Hue’s Phu Bai International Airport to become a gateway for tourism, especially for the Mekong sub-region and Asia-Pacific.

Thua Thien – Hue’s representatives answered questions fromof international airlines about its preferential policy for foreign airlines once they open their air routes to Hue. Accordingly, the province plans to supply services at soft prices and partly subsidisesubsidize for them in the initial period.

The province will also implement a tourism advertising scheme and assist foreign airwayslines in terms of administrative formalities.
