LookAtVietnam – The Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism has called on tourist companies to protect tourists against negative effects of the A/H1N1 flu.

Medical workers check quarantine certificates at Noi Bai International Airport. The national tourism agency has asked tourist firms to protect their customers against the flu.

One key recommendation would be to have flu insurance included as part of tour packages, so that if a tourist had to cancel a trip due to the flu they would be refunded.

The agency has given out 10 warnings to instruct the tourism sector in how to prevent the spread of the flu without creating panic among tourists.

The Administration’s Information Technology Centre will post the latest news on the A/H1N1 flu development in Viet Nam on the internet along with information on preventing the spread of the epidemic.

Tourism staff and tourists with symptoms like high temperature, cough, sore throat are asked to isolate themselves, and healthcare centres should be informed about such cases to give out instructions.

Tourism management agencies nationwide should ensure that hotels and restaurants are carrying out proper cooking safety and hygiene as required by the Ministry of Health.

International and domestic tour companies and hotels must co-ordinate with preventive healthcare departments to organise training courses for tour guides and staff about A/H1N1 flu prevention measures and solutions to help tourists who have flu symptoms.

If anyone with symptoms of A/H1N1 is discovered, enterprises must inform their local health departments by calling the following hot line: 0989671115, or emailing: baocaodich@gmail.com.
