A new direct route between Hanoi and Fukuoka, the capital city of Kyushu, Japan was opened by Vietnam Airlines on October 9.

There are 2 flights a week on Tuesday and Saturday. A single ticket costs US$523 and a 14-day round-about ticket US$567.

Trinh Hong Quang, deputy director of Vietnam Airlines, said the new route improves the company’s flight network to Japan - one of its major markets.

Vietnam Airlines wants to diversify its products, enhance its competitiveness and promote the trade and investment in Kyushu, Japan’s 4th biggest economic centre, he added.

There are also two flights a week from Ho Chi Minh City to Fukuoka using Airbus A320s. This was the first air route opened by Vietnam Airlines in 1992 with three flights a week.

Currently, it has a total of 40 flights a week from Vietnam to Japan, including 16 under a joint venture with Japan.
