The airline said authorities in Macau revoked the carrier’s license for flights to Tokyo, Sydney, Melbourne and Jakarta without any prior notice.

The Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam also revoked licenses for the airline’s two Vietnam routes, said a local newspaper quoting an official from the administration.

The revocations were due to the airline’s inability to handle a fuel expense dispute with a supplier in Macau, driving the carrier to sustain at least 10 delays and cancellations last week.

The termination affected a total of 4,739 passengers with pre-booked tickets, said the low cost carrier.

“Our shareholders had also offered credit guarantees to the supplier. Unfortunately, no agreement could be reached and therefore flights were stopped unexpectedly,” said the carrier in a statement.

The carrier added that it was looking forward to communicating with concerned parties in order to resolve the issue.

Viva Macau operates daily service to HCMC and three weekly flights to Hanoi on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
