On the national routes such as Northern- Southern railways, highways and Eastern- Western economic corridor, with Phu Bai International Airport, Adot and Hong Van national border gates, Thuan An port, especially with Chan May deep water port considered as “ the gate having the shortest and favorable way to the sea” of countries in the area of Me Kong river; along with the diversity of natural landscapes and historical- cultural traditions, Thua Thien Hue city is really an ideal place of tourism. 

Thua Thien Hue is Vietnamese capital city under the Nguyen Dynasty. Cultural heritage values in here both own national special characteristics and genius and express their own attractive features of a culture. Hue culture is very abundant and diversified including material and non- material culture, natural landscapes and environment, etc. 

With Hue Capital City Relics Population and Hue Royal Refined Music- a World Cultural Heritage, Thua Thien Hue is a Vietnamese centre for the world cultural heritage route: Ha Long- Phong Nga- Hue- Hoi An- My Son- Ho Chi Minh route which has made a tourism connection with tourism routes in Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Da Nang, Quang Nam, etc.

Thua Thien Hue has kept garden houses and old  towns having special characteristics of the capital city in Vi Da, Kim Long, Gia Hoi, Bao Vinh. Especially, Thua Thien Hue also keeps Champa  vestiges and antiques. Besides, there exists a glorious tradition of revolution with vestiges relating to Ho Chi Minh Chairman, several revolutionaries and historical sites about the wars against French colonists and American Empire such as Duong Hoa, Hoa My, A Luoi bases, Ho Chi Minh route, etc.

Thua Thien Hue is also famous for cooking art, handicrafts and folk festivals such festivals as Cau Ngu, Hon Chen temple, Boating Competition on Huong River and Hue Festival every two years which include typical cultural features in Hue, Vietnam and other countries and attracted thousands of tourists all over the world.

Furthermore, Thua Thien Hue has potentials and strengths on beaches, plains, hills, mountains and forests with a 128 km seaside, beautiful beaches such as Lang Co (recognized as a member of the World’s Most Beautiful Bay Club), Thuan An, Canh Duong and especially Tam Giang- Cau Hai laggon in area of 22,000 ha, one of the biggest lagoons in South East Asia.

As a world cultural heritage with natural landscapes, historical sites such as Huong River, Ngu Binh mountain, Bach Ma national park, Hai Van pass, museums, famous pagodas and especially garden houses- a typical feature of Hue. Thua Thien Hue tourism proves to be abundant, diversified which have full of conditions to develop types of tourism such as cultural tourism, ecological tourism, beach and mountain tourism, resting and sports tourism, etc. Remarkably, the Prime Minister decided to approve of building Hue city as a Festival city in the national and international level.

This can be considered as a Provincial advantage to develop tourism into a key economic sector and strive to become one of the big and special tourism centre inVietnam.
