Vietnamese tour and travel operator, Luxury Travel has released its annual forecast on travel trends to watch for within the country’s tourism industry, citing five key areas of focus for 2013.

Luxury family travel is regaining popularity considering that families are geographically living farther away from each other than ever before.

Elderly people are swapping work for the world; with time, health and disposable income on their hands and the children and grandkids in tow.

Wellness and spa innovation has seen a massive spike in South East Asia in recent years and Vietnam travel has begun to catch up, embracing spa culture with a wide selection of resorts and day spas that are the equal to any in the world.

Visitors seeking ways to remain active and healthy while on holidays should be well accommodated in Vietnam, with the country’s extensive trekking, diving, camping and adventure opportunities and activities.

Areas such as Sapa and Hạ Long Bay" href="http://www.visithalongvietnam.com">Halong Bay in the north, the Cham islands, Central Highlands and the Mekong Delta provide energetic travellers with an undeniably gorgeous landscape and plenty of active options.

Understandably, travellers wish to discover new and exotic experiences, different from those previously encountered by others and offering a one-of-a-kind adventure.

The forecast also revealed that visitors to Vietnam will be seeking a more customised travel experience; one which they can recount to friends and family through the use of social media and various other outlets.

“Luxury travel is no longer just about fine dining and five-star hotels,” Luxury Travel chief executive and founder Pham Ha said.

“With so many new experiences on offer, it's the stories travellers can tell afterwards that confer status.”
