Local travel firms are racing to launch promotions for local and overseas tours and services, with discounts of up to 50%, or free hotel rooms given to air ticket purchasers.

Tour operators like Vietrantour, Viet Communications and Tourism Joint Stock Company, Saigontourist Travel Service Company or Vietravel have introduced promotions to customers. Most discount programs are carried out by tour operators in coordination with air carriers.

Vietrantour has announced a discount of 40% for flights from Vietnam to Laos, Cambodia or Myanmar. With such Indochina tours, the company offers a cost equivalent to only three-fourths of the normal starting price.

The five-day Hanoi-Vientiane-Luang Prabang tours of Vietrantour are priced at VND12.99 million a visitor while its four-day Myanmar tours sell for VND13.5 million a visitor and four-day Phnom Penh-Siem Reap tours VND10.89 million.

Viet Communications and Tourism now is selling 1,000 local and overseas tourism tickets with discounts of up to 50%. The promotional tickets are applicable to the first ten customers booking a tour for departure from September 1 to December 31, exclusive of holidays.

Vietravel has also cooperated with Vietnam Airlines to decrease up to VND10 million for tours to Japan. The six-day Tokyo-Sapporo-Furano-Tokyo-Mount Fuji-Yokohama tours are offered by the travel firm at around VND35.99 million a visitor.

The company has also joined hands with low-cost air carrier VietJet Air to reduce VND3.3 million for each six-day tour taking in Hanoi, Lang Son, Cao Bang, Ban Gioc Waterfalls, Ba Be Lake and Son Tay priced at VND9.99 million a person. These tours will depart on every Tuesday.

Similarly, Fiditourist has introduced a new promotion in which air ticket buyers are gifted hotel rooms of the same airfare value, applicable to the five tours to Con Dao, Ca Mau, Chu Lai, Tuy Hoa and Phu Quoc. As such, with the price of VND3.29 million, every customer can buy a round-trip fare and book a two-day-one-night hotel room with breakfast and transport service, including VAT.

Those customers intending to stay longer can book more rooms with a surcharge of VND590,000 a night for the routes to Con Dao, Ca Mau, Chu Lai and Phu Quoc. With the route to Tuy Hoa, the surcharge of a single room and of the second night onwards is VND850,000 a visitor.

Saigontourist, meanwhile, has launched the Myanmar tours with a price deduction of VND2 million a visitor compared to normal ones. Tours with good prices are the five-day HCMC-Yangon-Bago-Kyaikhtiyo with a package price at VND13.99 million a visitor and the four-day Hanoi-Yangon-Bago-Kyaikhtiyo at VND12.48 million each.
