Vietnamese leaders will “meet” with Vietnamese living in some 90 countries through a television program to mark the Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday.

Xuan que huong (Spring in the Homeland) will feature president Nguyen Minh Triet wishing Vietnamese abroad a Happy New Year, said Nguyen Thanh Son, Foreign Ministry deputy and chairman of the Overseas Vietnamese Committee.

The event, featuring traditional and modern performances, will be broadcast live from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday from the Temple of Literature in Hanoi.

Vietnamese in Vientiane, Moscow and San Francisco will have a chance to speak with the president and other officials via the program.

Reports from Vietnamese communities in Thailand and Australia will be broadcast live, Son said.
