The competition is named “Sydney Performing Art Classical Guitar Open Age.”

This is an annual event held in August for exceptional students from the age of 18 or above who study at art schools in Australia.

At the competition, Binh performed two pieces of work, including Serenade by Schubert/Liszt/Mertz and Va La Muerte Del Angel by Astor Piazzolla/Leo Brouwer.

His performance was praised by the jury, including musician Janet Agostino and two other musicians from the Sydney Guitar Trio.

Binh, 20, began studying guitar at the age of eight with his father. He entered the Hanoi Conservatory of Music in 2004. He won first prize at an international guitar contest in 2006. He passed the exam for the Australian International Conservatorium of Music the same year to earn a scholarship to study at the Institute.
