VietNamNet Bridge – The last blacksmith of Lo Ren street (blacksmith street) in Hanoi’s Old Quarter is located at the intersection of Lo Ren-Thuoc Bac.

The owner is Nguyen Phuong Hung, 50. Hung’s enterprise is a 2sq.m space, where all necessary tools are arranged very tidy.

Hung began doing this job when he was 12, as an assistant for his father. He said this job chose him. His father had four sons, but only Hung inherited the position.

“I had done many jobs before my father asked me to return home to take over this job from him in 1993,” Hung explained.

At present, there is only Hung’s blacksmith’s in the street of blacksmiths. However, as his children don’t want to pursue this job, this is most likely the last blacksmith on the street.
