VietNamNet Bridge – Through two articles on VietnamNet, a family has found  their mentally impaired and deaf daughter who had been missing for two years.

Nguyen Thi Nhung, a mentally impaired and deaf girl from Thanh Ha town, Lac Thuy district, Hoa Binh province went missing two years ago. She was found on December 1 2010, a week after VietNamNet posted two articles about her case.

On November 30, Thanh Ha town’s vice chair Le Ngoc Ban received a phone call from a man who called himself an official named Hung from the Ba Vi Social Patronage Center in Hanoi.

Hung said that in 2009, his center welcomed a mentally impaired  and deaf girl named Nguyen Thi Nhung, 19, whose origin of origin is unclear because the girl couldn’t recount anything about it. She only knew her name.

Nhung was then sent to the Hoa Sua Economics and Tourism School in Thanh Tri district, Hanoi to study.

Hung accidentally read the article about Nhung on VietNamNet newspaper on November 25 so he called Thanh Ha town authorities.

Nhung’s family went to Hanoi to see Nhung on December 1 morning. The reunion between the missing girl and her family was very moving. At the sight of her family words escaped Nhung and she burst into tears.

The family asked the school’s permission to bring their daughter home for a week.

The school also agreed to receive Nhung’s elder sister, also a mentally impaired and deaf girl, as its student.

Nhung’s family sold many of their assets to search for their daughter for two years in hopelessness. The reunion of the girl and her family through the two articles on VietnamNet is a fairy tale with a happy ending.
