The construction of Saigon 2 Bridge
with six lanes and investment capital of more than VND1.5 trillion will start
this year. Seventeen other important transport projects will also be
implemented.

The Saigon 2 Bridge is the most important transport project
in HCM City this year, said the HCM City Department of Transport. with six
lanes, The 1500m bridge will have similar design as the Saigon 1 Bridge,. The
new bridge will connect the city’s center to the Hanoi highway.

The roads along Nhieu Loc-Thi Nghe Canal will be upgraded.

The city will also try to complete the undergoing transport
projects like the road from Phu My bridge to Rach Chiec bridge, road 10, Suoi
Cai and Phu Long bridges, etc.

In 2010, HCM City completed some important works that will
help reduce traffic jams in the city: Thu Thiem bridge, Nguyen Van Troi – Nam Ky
Khoi Nghia road, Hoang Hoa Tham road, etc.

However, some projects are implemented very slowly due to
problems related to site clearances.

HCM City is calling for investment in developing transport
facilities like urban railways, monorail routes, belt roads and overhead roads.
