VietNamNet Bridge – The central province of Quang Ngai has announced the epidemic of the foot-and-month disease among the cattle since nearly 1250 buffaloes, cows and pigs have been infected.

More dangerously, some local people didn’t obey the rules on burying dead cattle, causing pollution in the area.

Dinh Dong, Chair of Thanh An commune in Quang Ngai province, said that some families dumped dead cattle in hollow holes. The smell from dead cattle spreads to the surrounding area. The local authorities had to send militias and veterinary workers to re-bury the dead cattle.

Dong worried that local people’s disobedience of hygienic rules may accelerate the spread of the epidemic

A month ago, another central province – Phu Yen – announced the end of the epidemic but the disease has returned and expanded quickly.

In Tuy Hoa city, Phu Yen province, some dead cattle were thrown to lakes or canals. Local people say that breeders don’t want to bury dead cattle because of their superstition that this would make them unable to breed cattle afterwards.

On February 21, environmental police of Phu Yen detected. There were 2-3 dead pigs in each bag.
