The Vietnamese movie that participated in 30 prestigious international film festivals, has released a new trailer with many “hot” scenes.

A scene from “Bi, Don’t Be Afraid”.

After being delayed several times and facing difficulties in censorship, “Bi, Don’t Be Afraid” will be introduced to local audience in March 2011.

“Bi, Don’t Be Afraid” by Phan Dang Di, the only Asian film at the Stockholm International Film Festival, won two prizes, Outstanding First Film and Best Cameraman, last November.

Earlier, it received two unofficial prizes at the Cannes Film Festival 2010, the Special Mention prize at the Vancouver Film Festival in Canada and the Best Movie title at the Asia – Hong Kong Film Festival.

The film script won the Asia Outstanding Project at the Pusan Film Festival in 2007 and was selected for the L’Atelier competition for independent movies at the Cannes Film Festival the same year.

Director Phan Dang Di, 34, became famous when his short film “Lotus” was presented at the Clermont Ferrand 2006 Short Film Festival. “When I’m 20” is another short movie by Phan Dang Di introduced at the Venice Film Festival 2008. Di is also the script editor of “Lonely”, which was introduced at many international film festivals.

“Bi, Don’t Be Afraid” is his first feature film about a family in Hanoi, which shows the world through the eyes of a 6-year-old boy named Bi.

The new trailer, launched on February 22, makes the audience curious for “very hot” scenes, such as when Bi’s aunt, Thuy, uses ice to hold back her sexual passion at midnight or when Hoa, Bi’s mother, puts her hand into Quang’s trousers, her husband, etc. However, these scenes are very important to serve the film’s main idea.

The movie will be screened at Galaxy Tan Binh cinema in HCM City and the National Cinema Center in Hanoi as of March 18.

At the same time, director Phan Dang Di is preparing for his second film project, entitled “Big Father, Small Father and Other Stories”. This movie is based on a true story published by Thanh Nien Newspaper 15 years ago, about a group of young men who got vasectomies for awards.

The film will be shot in late 2011 in HCM City and the southwestern region.

Phan Dang Di and co-producers will introduce the project to investors of the Hong Kong Asia Film Financing Forum from March 21-23.
