Pham Vu Thieu Quang, a nine-year-old boy from Hanoi became the youngest person in Asia to set foot on the South Pole on February 3. Accompanied by his father, he is now visiting different locations in the freezing area.

Pham Vu Thieu Quang, a nine-year-old boy from Hanoi became the youngest person in Asia to set foot on the South Pole on February 3. Accompanied by his father, he is now visiting different locations in the freezing area.

Thieu Quang is also youngest person in the world to have set foot on Base W. in Antarctica.

Thieu Quang left Hanoi on Jan 27 for Buenos Aires, Argentina before moving to Ushuia, the southernmost city of Argentina.

He then boarded MS Fram - Hurtigruten cruise ship to the South Pole on their self-funded trip.

Thieu Quang was the youngest passenger on board and thus loved by all crew members, his father Pham Quang Vinh wrote on Facebook.

Thieu Quang has seen sea lions and penguins, which will become the main characters in his short movie that he will make after the trip, Vinh wrote.

In 1997, Hoang Thi Minh Hong was the first Vietnamese to set foot on the South Pole.

Quang and his father take pictures on the island.

The boy takes pictures and films animals in the South Pole for his short movie.

He is a special guest of the MS Fram ship’s captain.
