VietNamNet Bridge - A strong chill is forecast to hit northern Vietnam on March 15, which many bring about rain-storms, whirlwinds or hails. It may spread down to the central and southern region within this week.

The temperature in the northern region will fall down. The lowest temperature in Hanoi is forecast at 12 degree Celsius and the highest temperature at 18 degree Celsius.

According to the Southern Hydrometeorology Forecast Center, the strong cold spell will also create high seas in the East Sea. Strong winds of the seventh level may blow up to 62kph along the coastal region.

The southern region will only be affected starting from March 17. From now on, the area including HCM City and surrounding provinces and the Mekong Delta have warm weather, with temperature ranging from 33 to 35 degree Celsius.

The National Steering Board for Flood and Storm Control and the National Committee for Search and Rescue have asked coastal provinces from Quang Ninh to Ba Ria-Vung Tau to inform ships about the weather changes.

In mid-December 2010, strong northeastern monsoon in the East Sea damaged 20 ships and sunk 26 others sunken. Forty-seven people went missing at sea.
